Plant-Based Chemicals with Vapor Delivery.
Effective, environmentally-friendly cleaning solutions that increase productivity.
For many decades, operators have been pouring chemicals down wellbores with little understanding of where they are going and how effectively they are treating the entire wellbore or formation intervals. Liquid applications, due to simple physics, treat the bottom of the well more than the top. The hydrostatic head of the column of treatment fluid usually pushes more fluid into the bottom intervals or perforations than the top resulting in a very uneven treatment application. The other problem with the liquid application of treatment chemicals is that due to viscosity and surface tension issues, liquids just aren’t very good at infiltrating the reservoir rock matrix. Gas, on the other hand, has at least an order of magnitude higher injectivity which means that if treatment chemicals can be put into a vapor state or atomized, they can interact with and affect significantly more of the rock matrix.
SurgiTech takes a completely different approach to most types of well treatments. Using the SurgiTech Nitro-Dyne unit, a well is first pressured up and surged to remove any rust, scale, paraffin or sand that may be plugging the perforations. Once the movable debris has been cleaned from the perfs, the Nitro-Dyne unit warms the well up and then scours the casing and tubing with a plant-based bio-solvent/surfactant. After the cleaning cycle, the unit will inject the same environmentally friendly vapor into the rock matrix where it reduces the viscosity of the oil and leaves a slick coating on the casing and rock pore throats so that oil flows more freely to the wellbore. This solvent/surfactant injection can be followed by a custom-tailored chemical program to address various skin damage issues such as scale, salt, bacteria, H2S and a host of other problems. One of our most popular treatment additions is a deep acid injection using SurgiTech’s EcoSyn-174 synthetic acid. The EcoSyn-174 product has a more linear spend rate than HCL which combined with the high injection rates of the Nitro-Dyne process, result in significantly deeper rock penetration. The product is non-toxic, bio-degradable and will not cause damage to skin or eyes.
The flexibility of the Nitro-Dyne units also allows SurgiTech to easily modify the treatment program on the fly based on what each well is telling us. With SurgiTech’s new high-pressure booster, clients with unconventional, horizontal shale wells finally have an economic solution to address skin damage in their laterals. Instead of spending $50,000 on a coiled tubing unit or filling the entire lateral up with chemicals, we can deliver the treatment chemicals to the lateral as an atomized fog. We believe that this fogged delivery process will yield better results with significantly less chemical volume.
